Deck Merge is a working example of two cool things at the same time.

  1. Affinity Publisher (version 1.9) allows data merge - you can set up fields from a spreadsheet and generate a templated page for each row.
  2. The Dicier typeface, by Speak the Sky, gives you ligature characters for playing card, dice, and domino icons.

The files here are available for you to see the basics of how both of those things can work together to allow you to generate a deck of cards from a template and a spreadsheet.

Dicier is currently priced as pay-what-you-want (and you should pay something for it so Speak the Sky can keep making the font better.) It is available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)! In short, this means you can freely download, use, and even modify the font files for both personal and commercial use. All you need to do is follow the license terms (through the link above and in the User Guide), particularly: credit Speak the Sky as the font's designer.

The best introduction to Affinity 1.9 data merge is the tutorial on their website. Watch that, and you'll be all set to modify the files I've made here for your own purposes!

If you use this for something, link it below, I'd love to see it, as long as you're not using it to be a jerk.

Hope this helps!
